Tweet Listings
Tweet listings are categorised records of social-media posts in time sequence, attached to some recent blog posts featuring Donald Trump
This website has published tweets almost daily since the start of Donald Trump’s second term of office as U.S. President in January 2025. Trump’s interventions have prompted a high proportion of all PatternsofPower tweets since then.
His policies can be measured against the 2024 Republican Party Platform, which listed twenty promises – some of which are quoted below. Congress authorised the implementation of many of those policies on 4 July 2025, in One Big Beautiful Bill which was rushed through as a budget reconciliation bill so that it only required a simple majority.
PatternsofPower tweets are usually published on both Bluesky and X (formerly Twitter). Most of them contain a URL to a news article that prompted the tweet. The listings reveal how issues develop over time, forming streams of comments on issues that were addressed in some of the PatternsofPower blog posts. Tweet listings are categorised as follows:
US Immigration – ICE
“Seal the border and stop the migrant invasion” and “Begin Largest Deportation Program in American History”. This policy is recommended by National Conservatism (which is supported by Vice-President JD Vance). It entailed a hugely expanded department of Immigration Control and Enforcement (ICE). The related list of tweets is appended to the blog post Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, which was published on 8 July 2025.
Trump Authoritarianism
Trump’s behaviour as President has been increasingly authoritarian. This accords with the Heritage Foundation’s publication Project 2025 which, as described by the BBC, “proposes that the entire federal bureaucracy, including independent agencies such as the Department of Justice, be placed under direct presidential control – a controversial idea known as “unitary executive theory”.” The relevant tweet listing is appended to the blog post Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill. The passing of that bill and his cabinet appointments enabled him to tighten his grip on power.
Trump Foreign Policy
“Return to Peace Through Strength”. Trump has interpreted this as a right to bully smaller countries. His foreign policy is transactional: always seeking to cut a quick deal and to get good headlines for himself. He has trashed America’s reputation and harmed its economy. The associated list of tweets is appended to the blog post America is diminished, which was published on 12 April 2025.
Plutocracy: Musk, DOGE and corruption
“Large Tax Cuts”. Trump wants more money for billionaires like himself and Elon Musk. Musk set up the Department Of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to cut the costs of government and services for most Americans, so that the rich could benefit from tax cuts. Trump has also exploited his position to become much wealthier, in what has been described as corruption. The tweet listing related to this topic is appended to the blog post Regressive Trump policies which was published on 28 January 2025.
Trumponomics
“Stop Outsourcing, and Turn the United States into a Manufacturing Superpower”. Trump has imposed tariffs on imports from other countries, as a protectionist measure. He also used tariffs as a political weapon, frequently changing his mind, creating harmful uncertainty for businesses.
“Make America the Dominant Energy Producer in the World, By Far!” by making more use of America’s fossil fuel resources: both mining and natural gas. This would cut energy costs in the short-term, to “End Inflation, and Make America Affordable Again”. The impact of these policies on the economy is the subject of another tweet listing appended to the blog post Regressive Trump policies.
Ukraine
“Prevent World War Three, Restore Peace in Europe”. Trump promised to end the war between Russia and Ukraine “in 24 hours” during the 2024 US presidential election campaign. He started peace talks directly with Russia, without Ukraine’s participation, when he was elected – although that changed later, as the timescales slipped. The tweet list on this topic is appended to the blog post Ukraine Peace Talks, which was published on 5 March 2025.
Israel and its neighbours
“Restore Peace in …the Middle East”. Trump also positioned himself as a bringer of peace to Israel and its neighbours in his second term of office. Although he helped to initiate a ceasefire between Israel and Gaza in January 2025, the peace process did not continue because Israel renewed its attacks. Israel also attacked Iran, with some American help, and it intervened in Syria. The associated tweet list is appended to the blog post Conflict in Gaza, which was published on 10 October 2023.
