Everyone can participate in politics, which in the terminology of this book means that they can affect the way in which their society is governed. People have more scope in a democracy, but they can be active in any political system. Individuals have personal preferences in political ideology and approaches (6.2.1), which will affect which politicians and policies they support.
They can participate in several ways, as described in the following sub-sections:
· They can influence politicians, either as individuals or by joining groups (6.6.1.1).
· They can influence their fellow citizens in personal interactions (6.6.1.2).
· They can work at different levels of subsidiarity (6.6.1.3).
