4.3.3  Influence on Beliefs (and Subsequent Behaviour)

(This is an archived extract from the book Patterns of Power: Edition 2)

A change to someone’s beliefs can influence their later behaviour – even after the death of the influencer.  It seems to be a characteristic of mankind that people want others to believe the same as themselves, and people try hard to influence each other’s beliefs – by peer-to-peer persuasion (4.3.3.1), by children’s upbringing (4.3.3.2), or through religious organisations (4.3.3.3).
